She's stitched over 1 on 25 ct fabric with DMC & I used Kreinik #4 braid instead of the beads. There are a lot more Flower Fairies on my "to do" list - (also without the wings). Hope I can get started on another very soon!! Thanks for stopping by - happy stitching!<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I ran across a blog hop which used designs by Brooke Nolan of <a href="http://www.brookesbookspublishing.com/" target="_blank">Brooke's Books Publishing</a>, (whom I have known for many years) and I just love her designs. So I decided why not - maybe this would be a good jump start to get me back to sewing again. I've been sewing for many years, but stitching is my first love (as you can see if you look at my blog for a couple of minutes!), and I haven't done very much sewing over the past year or so. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>(OH, and excuse the photos, it's been raining for the past 3 days & I can't seem to get good pics inside, sorry!)</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First, I had to pick out fabric and I had these in my HUGE fabric stash. What goes better with red than blue? Then I found this really cute summer print with everything needed for the beach/summer - flip flops, bathing suits, beach bags, etc. I thought it would be cute for the lining, and there are areas on the fabric with sparkles on it - like glitter. Well of course that made me think of opalescent fabric, so I decided to stitch Brooke's cute design on 28 ct White Opal Linen. I had to change a few white stitches to light blue so they'd show up. Hopefully you can see how much the fabric sparkles in the photo below…. (and yes, I left the shoe off-on purpose!)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTqgJWqIDzeUSnciNl4jz8-92ncQ9XGLrMsS-fGP-MqchWTEs9gSdcKVvgnLB5aSXQ69krNaPhmIPl_qHv3r_fDbgT7dphjnNuBObkhrtKUXpZuYy27Q8xjZZwSQHNRGpArGZ0oz_FeQk/s1600/IMG_3923.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTqgJWqIDzeUSnciNl4jz8-92ncQ9XGLrMsS-fGP-MqchWTEs9gSdcKVvgnLB5aSXQ69krNaPhmIPl_qHv3r_fDbgT7dphjnNuBObkhrtKUXpZuYy27Q8xjZZwSQHNRGpArGZ0oz_FeQk/s1600/IMG_3923.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The purse frame and some red rick rack for the trim along with my fabrics….</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_jdJZvesHVLkDyrdmhcObiNrMNJgUcpdiWGZa10_coo8lnwSkShOB8Hc6zltq-65w56kVEvbl-IBfXepRMV0aguETzaXuAiPGoT84GzewOsZD725BRXgp5a_p9UcaW_bhNNXtZhuNKec/s1600/IMG_3920.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_jdJZvesHVLkDyrdmhcObiNrMNJgUcpdiWGZa10_coo8lnwSkShOB8Hc6zltq-65w56kVEvbl-IBfXepRMV0aguETzaXuAiPGoT84GzewOsZD725BRXgp5a_p9UcaW_bhNNXtZhuNKec/s1600/IMG_3920.JPG" height="229" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So once I finished the stitching, I made the Tammy Bag, then started the Pinny, which was also a part of the blog hop. Well, I have to admit, I've never done any hand appliqué & wasn't quite sure that I could get it done properly with the limited time I had. I think it's an adorable design & soon I will get up the nerve up to try the appliqué. But in the meantime, this is what I came up with… </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWEa9WC5CF2EaUcpcydZJz4pc_3HnhvyZjd1QFA-GwijnGLLhylCErtspvqdAOEvyUb7ah7VAZj1V0CgwKXE9GDSnWbRcSxbF8wDnHTNkEcK-haNav_ChSHyPFzL6SxkQdpiBuyEo4EQ4/s1600/IMG_1892.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWEa9WC5CF2EaUcpcydZJz4pc_3HnhvyZjd1QFA-GwijnGLLhylCErtspvqdAOEvyUb7ah7VAZj1V0CgwKXE9GDSnWbRcSxbF8wDnHTNkEcK-haNav_ChSHyPFzL6SxkQdpiBuyEo4EQ4/s1600/IMG_1892.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also decided that instead of a ruffle, I wanted to use more of my red rick rack for the trim-to match the trim on the back pocket of the Tammy Bag. And instead of the pocket on the back of the Pinny, I pulled out my Baby Go & used the heart die to make a heart shaped needler holder, with a flap to keep the needles from poking me when I pick it up. I know that doesn't follow the pattern exactly, but I think it's pretty cute! Below there are several pictures of the front & back, along with one of my little over-one projects in my Q-Snaps called "Beach Blessing"…. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

This is a Lizzie Kate Boxer that I stitched for my dear friend Lynn just after we heard the dreaded "C" word. Lynn has cancer and at this point, has been going through treatments for the past 6 months or so. Please keep her in your prayers - we're all hoping for a miracle. Jill framed this really quickly so we could get it to Lynn.<br />

<br />
And a few small Christmas designs - Mill Hill's "Cookie's for Santa", a Cuore e Batticuore Santa from the Shabby Advent pattern - these all make wonderful ornaments!<br />
<br />
And last but not least, a design from an older magazine that has more beads than stitches, but it's really pretty in person. All the beads/treasures really make it sparkle. It's stitched on a piece of hand-dyed fabric by Kristy at HLC fabrics - so glad she's back to dyeing fabric.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And there are several other things in the works too (other than the Mira UFO). I always used the blog to keep a "diary" for myself of things I've stitched. I got out of the habit though. Maybe in 2015 I can get back into it. Check back once in awhile to see….</div>

<br />
I'm still around, stitching as much as possible, sewing a bit, still collecting too. Ray has been super busy with his projects too. I'll try & make a post with some of the stitching I've done over the past couple of years…. lots of pretty things - imho! Check back soon - just attempting a test post at the moment!!<br />
<br />
Wish me luck - and check back soon!<br />

Here we go...<br />
<br />
<br />
I did two Summer Fob exchanges and this is one of the fobs, but I don't seem to have a pic of the other. This one went to Kathy K.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'll have to keep looking for the other - it was a beach theme for Petra. This is what I received from Petra - she sent a bunch of lovely items. Don't you love the fob and the Dovo's (drool!)....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*Quick update - I found a pic that Petra took of her pkg... the fob is on the right...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's a Pine Mtn. design & I stitched it over one on 18 ct linen. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I have some things for the Pals Retreat in October...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is one of the two Halloween pieces I did. I don't have a photo of the other one... maybe I'll ask Myra if she can send me a picture. It was a SB piece mounted in one of the round black boxes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The ornaments I made...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And this was my stitched exchange piece. Myra got it as well...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The design is by My Big Toe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And this is what it opens up to look like..... (BBD fabric for finishing)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I didn't get a photo of my grab bag. It had a chocolate theme, including a giant chocolate bar on top. My friend Laurie got it. Hope she liked it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I haven't taken pictures of what I brought home, but I will do that soon and post them for you to see. :-) Such talented ladies!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.nicolesneedlework.com/" target="_blank">Nicole</a> had a birthday on Nov. 1st. I made this, using the monogram from the Blackbird Designs Garden Club book (LOVE that book) and the fabric is Moda BBD fabric. I hope she likes it.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just made this the other night - and I love how it turned out. I've had some requests to make some for friends, so I've ordered more of the hardware so I can. The fabric is Moda Blackbird Designs, maybe Garden Party? I can't remember the line, but I love it. The pattern is called UR Priceless by Madame Samm, and <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/user/513529/pattern-store" target="_blank">you can find it here</a>.</div>

This beautiful cardinal was stitched by my friend Char, over 1 on 28 ct black. I paid her to stitch it for my mom for her birthday because I can't see to stitch on black <b>at all</b>. My mom loved it - it's really beautiful. I finished it into a pinkeep because she likes pinkeeps. Thanks again Char, it's LOVELY!</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This I didn't stitch either, but it's now hanging in my house. Isabella from <a href="http://theprimitivehare.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">The Primitive Hare</a> joined us at the Pals Retreat in Oct. When she was packing up to go home, she wanted to sell a few of her larger models. Since I can't possibly (EVER) stitch everything I want, I decided why not! I LOVE this design & now I will think of sweet Isabella & the time we spent together in MB everytime I look at it. Ray just framed it a few days ago.... isn't it lovely? It's called Endymion and it's stitched on 40 ct. Thanks again Isabella, I love it! Are you ready for more pancakes and DQ? ;-)</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These I just finished last night. Looks like I need to straighten the wire a bit on some of them. They're by Dixie Darlin' and my mom fell in love with the ones that Donna K. stitched for the ornament exchange in MB. I ordered some to stitch and some to give her to stitch for my sister and me. :-) She doesn't know it yet though, I plan to give them to her on Thanksgiving. The first two are for her & the 3rd for my sister. The come in sets of 3 sleds and the patterns each have 3 designs. As you can see, I stitched one of them twice. Please excuse the shadows. The camera batteries died after snapping the photo & I'm too lazy this a.m. to redo. I think you can get the idea from the pic - they're cute!!</div>

There are more, but I can't find the photo's. It really wasn't at the top of my list this year to be honest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But I have done a little bit of stitching and a tiny bit of sewing. My mom spends Sunday's at my House (usually) and after lunch today, we have several craft projects we plan to do. Hope you spend your Sunday doing something fun as well!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Thanks for stopping by & have a great Thanksgiving week ahead. Happy stitching & sewing!</div>

It's been a really rough year for me & I haven't felt like blogging. We lost my dad on July 1st. I still find it hard to believe - almost surreal - and it's still hard to deal with. My mom has been having a very hard time, as I'm sure you can imagine. They were married for more than 48 1/2 years. His loss has left a huge void in all of our lives. At least Ray & I were able to help during the last few weeks, and we didn't leave their house for the last 6 days he was with us. I miss him terribly and can't believe it's been almost 4 months. Anyway, thanks to all those who have kept us in your prayers. He was a wonderful dad and I'll miss him every day for as long as I live.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.stephensfuneralhome.org/obitphotos/Pete%20Summerlin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.stephensfuneralhome.org/obitphotos/Pete%20Summerlin.jpg" width="256" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It was really a rough year for several of my friends as well. I have 4 friends who lost a dad and one who lost her mom - all from April 28th-July 11th. Just one after another. :-( Very sad time for all of us.<br />
<br />
I haven't done a lot of stitching or sewing this summer/fall - some, but not much. I haven't done any blogging or keeping up with blogs. I'm going to try to get back into it (all) soon. Anyway, I just thought I'd stop by & let you know that I'm still around, even though I don't have a lot of fun/positive things to talk about right now.<br />
<br />
Hope you all have a great weekend & a Happy Halloween next week!!<br />

<br />Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10173378106835349003noreply@blogger.com20tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4730266119695823900.post-27568797786227419912012-06-06T00:32:00.004-04:002012-06-06T00:34:00.896-04:00Hello.... remember me?Yes, it's been a very long time since I posted to my blog. I wish I could say it was because I have been having so much fun, but that isn't the case. I have been busy though, so I guess that's positive. We took a vacation with a group of friends in April, and though the time with the friends was wonderful, there were several things that made it not so great overall - the bad weather, my dad being sick and us being worried about him. My sister's father-in-law got sick while we were gone & passed away the morning we were scheduled to come home. One of our friends who was with us got sick & we ended up having to call an ambulance for him... should I continue? No, that's enough for you to get the idea isn't it? <br />
My dad is getting sicker and weaker - and it seems to be happening faster now. He's been pretty for about a week & today he was very ill. My mom said this afternoon she is afraid this is "the beginning of the end". Of course none of us have any way of knowing when the end will actually come - not for any of us - but we do know that it won't be long for him. I stay as busy as possible so I don't think about it too much, but it's just plain miserable - or just plain hell actually - to watch someone you love so much get sicker & weaker from cancer. I know there is nothing anyone can do or say, but if you would please keep my parents & family in your thoughts & prayers, it would be greatly appreciated.<br />
<br />
I have been stitching a little - and I hope to have some pictures to share with you soon. That just hasn't been my top priority lately, as I'm sure you can imagine. <br />
<br />
Thanks for reading & hope you & yours are doing well & having a great start to the summer.<br />
Happy stitching & sewing!!Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10173378106835349003noreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4730266119695823900.post-9530231293008143512012-04-19T15:54:00.003-04:002012-04-19T15:54:47.701-04:00A finish & several "finishes".....<div style="text-align: center;">
I've not had a lot of time to share pictures, but wanted to get these few posted to show you....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

The first is the A Mon Ami Pierre sampler from Le Temps Qui Passe that I started in January. It's stitched on 36 ct Vintage Light Examplar Lakeside using one strand of DMC 815</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This is Blue Ribbon Designs "Beauty In Simplicity" stitched for the beautiful Oval Shaker Box (which I have!) made by the Canterbury Box Shop. I stitched this one this past week, finishing it up yesterday evening. I can't wait to get it "finished" - I'll post a picture of it again when I do. I love this design and it didn't hurt that it was designed for a shaker box, which I adore as well. The design is also available is a slightly different version to be framed if anyone is interested. AND it comes with smalls that you can stitch & put in the box. I might do those too... they're on my long & ever growing "list". It's stitched on 32 ct Vintage Examplar from Lakeside using WDW floss (I did change one color - the flowers on the bottom are Red Pear instead of Bluecoat Red). </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started a new project last night, so stay tuned............ not sure I can get it finished in a week, but I'm going to give it a try. </div>

We found out the 2nd week of March that my dad has cancer. He has cancer in both lungs, around his heart, in his liver and in his bones - all over. My heart is shattered and we're all having a very hard time accepting it. I think both of my parents are more in denial than my sister and I (and our husbands). I can't speak for my brother as we don't speak, but I'm sure he's having a hard time too as he has worked for daddy for the past 10 years & is with him daily. My dad is a wonderful man that's loved by many and always has been. He's the best dad anyone could ever hope to have. I've always been told I was a "daddy's girl" when I was little & I have so many wonderful memories, and I'm thankful for that. I'm also thankful that we have some time to "prepare" and to spend time together. His grandparents and parents lived to be in their mid-80's & mid-90's, so I just always thought he'd live to be "old". He just turned 72 two weeks ago - about the same time we found out about the cancer. My mom knew my dad growing up. He was friends with one of her older brothers. They were married one month after she turned 19 and have been married over 48 years. I don't know how she will manage, but my sister & I will do anything we can for her and our dad.<br />
<br />
They are doing a liver biopsy on Tuesday as the lung biopsy was "inconclusive". They are fairly certain it's small cell and the oncologist says he would like to try chemo as my dad is "healthy" and active otherwise. Well, other than the cancer has paralyzed his vocal cords, which is how it was found. I want him to be here for as long as he can, but I don't want him to spend whatever time he has left being too sick to do more than lay in a bed. <br />
I know there is nothing anyone can say & nothing anyone can do about this, but if you will please keep my dad and our family in your prayers, I would appreciate it. I'm keeping as busy as I can so I don't think about it constantly. I've been working or stitching if I'm not sleeping. I need to get back to sewing too.... that's coming. <br />
Thanks in advance for your prayers!Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10173378106835349003noreply@blogger.com22tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4730266119695823900.post-86423193540892973242012-03-17T15:52:00.003-04:002012-03-17T15:52:56.466-04:00Another Finish - Blackbird Designs Wild Garden...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hi & happy Saturday!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wanted to share my finish from this week - Blackbird Designs "Wild Garden". <a href="http://www.nicolesneedlework.com/" target="_blank">Nicole</a> gave me this kit for my birthday (which was Tuesday) and I stitched it right away. Thank you again Nicole, it's pretty huh!? The kit is a limited edition release from Blackbird Designs. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you have it or plan to get it and haven't stitched it yet, be careful with the fabric - there isn't a lot of extra, not even 2" around. And please ignore the crooked picture, I just wanted to give you an idea of what it looks like all stitched up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have several other things all kitted up & ready to start. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Let's see what gets done next!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend & happy stitching!!</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just wanted to share my latest finish (as of last night) with you. This is "Party Cakes" by Country Cottage - with both colors changes and as you can see, I changed it from "Cakes Cakes Cakes" to "Eat More Cake" - that suits me better. :-) I used a darker brown (WDW Kris's Bon Bon) & switched out the Crescents for Gentle Arts threads. I think it's very cute and this is my own "birthday cake" to myself. ;-) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have been stitching a bit off & on all month while listening to "The Fiery Cross" (Outlander Series) by Diana Gabaldon. (GREAT book btw - it's much better than #4 was!). It appears January is to be Monochrome Month for me. Actually, it appears that 2012 is going to be Monochrome <strong>Year</strong> by looking at my "to stitch" list! </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I finished this about a week & a half ago - it's "Let's Sew" by Imaginating. It's stitched on 32 ct Antique Ivory or Light Sand (it wasn't labeled!) with black DMC. I think it's adorable! It was a super quick stitch & when I showed it to my mom a week ago Sunday she liked it so much that she wanted to stitch it too! I have finishing plans for this one - so stay tuned!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next up is my "revised" Personalized Sampler by Stephanie at Nouveau Encore Designs. She designed the sampler in 2007 (I think?) and I had a fairly decent amount done on it (not quite 1/3, but a good bit). I picked it up last year & decided I no longer liked my color or fabric choices & that I no longer liked the border I had chosen in 2007. It was just "too busy". So, I contacted Stephanie & she did another border, much more simple this time, and I like it a lot better! This is almost all of page 1 (out of 20!). I'm stitching it over 1 on 28 ct with Anchor #22. I'm already in love with it!</div>

And thanks to <a href="http://plumstreetsamplers.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Paulette</a> (Plum Street Samplers) and all of her pictures she posted from her trip to The Attic a week or so ago, I found several more samplers I HAD TO HAVE.... one is on the way, one I'm looking for (anyone have Threads of Gold Sarah Munday they want to part with?) and this one (below) we sell via DSL and have for quite a few years! It took the picture on Paulette's blog to make me SEE it though - isn't that always the way? And dear Paulette is happy to take the blame for all of this & THRILLED to have made me spend $$ - she actually said so! :-) Isn't that so <strike>typical</strike> sweet of her? ;-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyway, this is one of two designs in Le temps qui passe by A Mon Ami Pierre. I'm stitching it on Lakeside 36 ct Vintage Light Examplar using DMC 815. I'm LOVING it too! Actually, <a href="http://www.nicolesneedlework.com/" target="_blank">Nicole</a> was here Saturday & she said this sampler was "so me" and that I had to stitch it. Just a slight nudge, but it was enough! ;-) Then she suggested that with my <strike>UFO's</strike> WIP's and the sampler I have coming and my plans for it, that with these, I can make a really nice Red/Brown Sampler wall when I'm all done. I think that's a great idea - don't you? ;-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And speaking of <a href="http://www.nicolesneedlework.com/" target="_blank">Nicole</a>, she came to visit last Saturday - I had a wonderful day chatting & stitching with her. And she brought me a truly LOVELY gift - isn't this pretty?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
It's Garden Pleasures by LHN and she stitched it over 1. I love it - thank you again Nicole for such a wonderful gift! And your finishing is fantastic!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to post progress on SOMETHING soon. I'm a bit under the weather so far this week (sinus infection and today, I woke up with my hip hurting pretty badly - geez, I know, pitiful huh!). <br />
<br />
I have several sewing projects in the works too - along with a pile of red/aqua fabrics I ordered after doing the "bundle" (see post below). I'll share those next time!<br />
<br />
Have a wonderful day/week. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I had a fairly productive day with my sewing today!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I joined the Sweetwater "Label Crew" a couple of weeks ago & asked them to send both the Dec. & Jan. projects. I made the Dec. project today - a journal cover. I love their iron on labels (aren't they cute?) and I thought this one was perfect with the "Etchings" fabric I decided to use for the squares. The lining is from a line called "Inkwell" - how's that for a journal? ;-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I've need some new potholders for several months & couldn't find any I liked. I used this Waverly fabric to cover my kitchen chair seats and I also have placemats out of it. I decided to make my own potholders using the fabric after I ran across it while I was getting out Christmas decorations last month. I finally got around to it today - I made eight. Yep, that's a lot, but it should do for awhile, don't you think? I used Insul-Bright (which is heat resistant) and a layer of cotton batting. Simple but still pretty I think.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I stitched some yesterday on a piece called "Let's Sew" by Urslua Michaels/Imaginating. I hope to get back to it tomorrow. We're doing a very informal SAL in the Pals group. Can't wait to see how creative everyone gets with theirs. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I decided to enter a contest via <a href="http://quokkaquilts.blogspot.com/2011/12/bloggers-choice-fat-quarter-bundle.html" target="_blank">Quokka Quilts Blog</a> for the Fat Quarter Shops Bloggers Choice Bundle - click the link for more details. I know what colors I would love to buy if I could just go & spend whatever I wanted - these are my choices. We were to pick 12 prints & 3 solids. I didn't want a solid white, so I choose the one with the little red dots, it's "close" to solid. </div>

I love the reds/aquas together and think these would be really fun to work with. I don't have a chance in the world of winning, but it was a fun way to spend some time on a Friday night - now I want to buy a ton of fabric.</div>

I don't know if you notice the "Santa Sack Swap" in the side bar, but that bag is the one that <a href="http://carolscraftblog.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Carol </a>made for me & I carried it as a purse from Thanksgiving until a couple of days after Christmas and I loved it. And I had quite a few nice comments on it as well. So, I decided to make a few more similar to it.... the pattern is by Stephanie of <a href="http://www.designsbyloftcreations.com/" target="_blank">Loft Creations</a>. I made my own version of it by cutting 2.5" squares for the top section, and have plans to make at least 2 more - both different than the original or this one. :-) </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb2ixRzXzSmVyaiMpBz8tfjJhauTIMzasrNtKrAlz4oBu_ogurKjxMcygtUvjzBiOg_PsdZ1TiBxQa1xTpsUxR1sj54179j9w_bJHthu0thgyUEWEcEMsJUvqHAnFyREmgVmr5KG9Cz5s/s1600/purse2012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb2ixRzXzSmVyaiMpBz8tfjJhauTIMzasrNtKrAlz4oBu_ogurKjxMcygtUvjzBiOg_PsdZ1TiBxQa1xTpsUxR1sj54179j9w_bJHthu0thgyUEWEcEMsJUvqHAnFyREmgVmr5KG9Cz5s/s320/purse2012.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And a bit closer (don't look too closely - it's NOT perfect!)......</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_2PW4sO5tJBedGvNgXCkZGZIk2plQakY6jAFV7ClBVnk-zzETLsGBzBGtR_bepYOFpb3pT8TDMuqjdXG7sdNptgDB30Zr0BKOlZGy0v_kJHiG88_1zJLUpImvtg6S6tlrDtHvdN5Z328/s1600/purse2012close.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_2PW4sO5tJBedGvNgXCkZGZIk2plQakY6jAFV7ClBVnk-zzETLsGBzBGtR_bepYOFpb3pT8TDMuqjdXG7sdNptgDB30Zr0BKOlZGy0v_kJHiG88_1zJLUpImvtg6S6tlrDtHvdN5Z328/s320/purse2012close.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, the fabric is the new Moda "Chemistry" (from a charm pack that my dear friend Jeanne sent me at Christmas) and Moda "L'Amour" from a year or two ago that I had in my massive fabric stash. I think they blend well together. I love red/brown together & the pink thrown in doesn't hurt it any (it's not baby pink! lol). I used a magnetic snap instead of the loop & button, though I may use that on another - we'll see, and I left the pocket off. I thought with all those squares & all those prints, the pocket might be a bit "much".</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks for stopping by - have a wonderful week & happy stitching & sewing!</div>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10173378106835349003noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4730266119695823900.post-24892197334518859892012-01-01T11:05:00.002-05:002012-01-01T13:25:32.741-05:00Happy New Year!<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy New Year to everyone! I hope 2012 is the best year ever - for all of us! </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I finished up a stitching project last night. I started it on Dec. 10th but just didn't have a lot of free time to stitch in December, but I did finish it last night. This is "Naughty or Nice" by Lavender Wings. I've had this in my stash for a few years & I've always thought he was so cute. There is a Mill Hill Gold Star treasure that goes at the end of the gold at his hat, but I can't find it. I'll get one ordered next week. I think he's cute.... (though he does need to be ironed, this is straight off the q-snaps!)...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And these are the contents of my Secret Santa Sack from <a href="http://carolscraftblog.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Carol</a>! Isn't everything just wonderful? She made the cutest little zipper bag and pincushion and stitched/framed LHN's Blossoms & Blackbirds and sent all of those goodies (pre-cuts, buttons, scissors, needles, patterns, a die for my GO! Baby, etc) from Sept. through Dec. I love it all Carol - thank you so much! Hope we can do this again in 2012!</div>
<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I entered an "ornament finishing" contest hosted by Sue Hillis in December. It was supposed to be <em>creative finishing</em> and I decided "why not". There were two chances to win, the designers choice and one that was to be voted on. Anyway, I entered two ornaments..... My "Peppermint Tree"....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And this design is from a JCS magazine and I think it's also in one of her newer leaflets. The buttons are mother of pearl and it took over 100 to go around the ornament...</div>

I have lots of hopes to do a lot of stitching and sewing in 2012. More than anything I just wish for peace and health for my family & friends!</div>

Isn't that always the way? Most of it I can share.....</div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Stealing the idea from <a href="http://karenshandiwork.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Karen </a>(thanks Karen!), I made two mini bottle cap pieces for winter. The designs are little motifs from Lizzie Kate's "Winter Alphabet". I left the sled off the snowman & added more "snow". I still haven't made them into ornnaments OR magnets - still thinking about it. Oh, and they're stitched over 1 on 25 ct..... The bottle caps are 1".</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdwvK5ubA-xfi0-TTEKrtdcgXsyauuE_kPxK2tHR62SrRXpT37MDABWP0XyFq1magwBr8OkmBGHNoFNQxaHG6M4pAnT5dwGoe1jz30sNHshkOPZvrm9VytJ9sTiuzkPvFkzid4IvPQyGI/s1600/bottlecaps.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="168" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdwvK5ubA-xfi0-TTEKrtdcgXsyauuE_kPxK2tHR62SrRXpT37MDABWP0XyFq1magwBr8OkmBGHNoFNQxaHG6M4pAnT5dwGoe1jz30sNHshkOPZvrm9VytJ9sTiuzkPvFkzid4IvPQyGI/s320/bottlecaps.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And I also stitched the Little House Joy & Peace on the same fabric over 1. You can see it next to the 1" bottle caps..... I still need to "finish" it as well.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgFBMhMsCdpz1zTyA_4oy8RHj9Qfzr8yEzpgSNbVCa44SLAtV3jCT4x6KlZcxpKUjFnB5C-LJPrRFSE2VFd7Rma83RANZyWS_b_DT84Gujk01-F-2t1VXbenqtbonLJFqyeKVg3MHDzBI/s1600/IMG_1598.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgFBMhMsCdpz1zTyA_4oy8RHj9Qfzr8yEzpgSNbVCa44SLAtV3jCT4x6KlZcxpKUjFnB5C-LJPrRFSE2VFd7Rma83RANZyWS_b_DT84Gujk01-F-2t1VXbenqtbonLJFqyeKVg3MHDzBI/s320/IMG_1598.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I stitched a Sue Hillis design that I just love! What do you think of my finishing? The ribbon is sort of like a "velvet" that came from Michael's and it's the perfect shade of red and the perfect width to fit the ornament. I didn't use all the colors that Sue charted it for - but I love how it turned out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzRXSMczK1FyR-NRIKfhdX2E0OaWcfm4shk1Y_ivLpUQPCLoHPW-ujA6c3gvC-0rFAmZrRalgxr6u2Bb3b9vxP3l5KoWO8rCqqIlyin3HVgdn8x4W6NtoX3ifnV3GEIHW5i7wcKiciPoc/s1600/shcandytree.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzRXSMczK1FyR-NRIKfhdX2E0OaWcfm4shk1Y_ivLpUQPCLoHPW-ujA6c3gvC-0rFAmZrRalgxr6u2Bb3b9vxP3l5KoWO8rCqqIlyin3HVgdn8x4W6NtoX3ifnV3GEIHW5i7wcKiciPoc/s320/shcandytree.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And I found these little guys (and gals) at Michael's a month or so ago. As soon as I saw them I knew they'd make darling Christmas pincushions, so I made these for friends. They all have them now, so I can share. :-) </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ4kM03IOt-8mRr1PT21l3IWOdvGo4YDYlR-qtIIPvZMF7DU1-HmtUUE2ZFBEMzxZjIHG2u7z4SeICSL7iphOmLYdc49KdEMToheK9sAq8zxkEF7lIiyWyJvwrmIHjeHsUiN4M4GEVqaY/s1600/Christmaspincushions.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="174" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ4kM03IOt-8mRr1PT21l3IWOdvGo4YDYlR-qtIIPvZMF7DU1-HmtUUE2ZFBEMzxZjIHG2u7z4SeICSL7iphOmLYdc49KdEMToheK9sAq8zxkEF7lIiyWyJvwrmIHjeHsUiN4M4GEVqaY/s320/Christmaspincushions.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I've also made a bunch of Christmas cards, some of which I've already mailed - I NEED to get the rest of them in the mail - don't you think? Here are some that haven't been sent yet.....</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2XoujwDdIvtfylu3ekuNCux1rnM0HwOpiuD3VziNpHgIhDvQpFIeeXeotzssNCFsyjbElZTohjcDu0c-fKNzgSt7gZTb8VAyFije0MU9quzk1b3YRJyq3lVSbbKCRwD7-axPdYnVBC5A/s1600/cards1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2XoujwDdIvtfylu3ekuNCux1rnM0HwOpiuD3VziNpHgIhDvQpFIeeXeotzssNCFsyjbElZTohjcDu0c-fKNzgSt7gZTb8VAyFije0MU9quzk1b3YRJyq3lVSbbKCRwD7-axPdYnVBC5A/s320/cards1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And last but not least is a Shepherds Bush that I finished last Sunday. It's just laying in the Jill Rensel mats - it hasn't been ironed & laced yet. I just wanted to see what it was going to look like. Cute huh?</div><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">The last stitch-in of the year at The French Hens was this past Saturday. We had a smaller than usual group but I had a ball. It's great to spend time with stitching friends and we were able to have conversations that included the entire group, which was nice for a change. Thanks to those who came - I really enjoyed the day & hope to see you all again in March! If you're interested in details - email me - <a href="mailto:amycspals@yahoo.com">amycspals@yahoo.com</a>.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">I have lots of other things "in the works". I'll share when I have pics. Thanks for stopping by. Happy stitching & sewing!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

I kept planning to take pictures & post, but it seemed there was always something else I needed to do as well. Anyway, here we go - finally..... ;-)<br />
<br />
First, this is the Grab Bag I took to the retreat. I made a tote bag from this cute fabric which apparently was a good idea because it was "most popular" (traded the most) and I won a prize (2nd pic!)....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4ISVXwy_335w5TSCTbXuTsw5-WCfnihuCEtaIZvnXl-QwMtpfr7Lb8oqga76fM8mtzNh0qHIV67kYObNXq6J09Vd-aF9dCGwgjqioir9e_vmpOv-HqXkqPbdBF54t6wrIt-H7YehtT-w/s1600/grabbag11.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4ISVXwy_335w5TSCTbXuTsw5-WCfnihuCEtaIZvnXl-QwMtpfr7Lb8oqga76fM8mtzNh0qHIV67kYObNXq6J09Vd-aF9dCGwgjqioir9e_vmpOv-HqXkqPbdBF54t6wrIt-H7YehtT-w/s320/grabbag11.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These were donated by <a href="http://karenaz.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Karen AZ</a>, she sells "Thirty One" items, which are wonderful!! Thanks again Karen, love them! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7dH_TTF0auQ1Wasf6LKXO1J_dKScoQSAOwzlv2C3RUTVfFb6rYCE1erSE0S5kh8we3NHvS5-yYfRI1hTDOACHICNJhFvCJAIOzXK28GopecafcQC3l0jfjilTvxaaK3j2HKM8wOAJY-E/s1600/IMG_1559.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7dH_TTF0auQ1Wasf6LKXO1J_dKScoQSAOwzlv2C3RUTVfFb6rYCE1erSE0S5kh8we3NHvS5-yYfRI1hTDOACHICNJhFvCJAIOzXK28GopecafcQC3l0jfjilTvxaaK3j2HKM8wOAJY-E/s320/IMG_1559.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="center"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And this is the grab bag I came home with! Isn't it great? It was made by my wonderful friend Judy - hand appliqued and it's just amazing! I'm totally thrilled with it! The inside is lined and she did an amazing job - inside & out!</div><br />

Thank you again Judy - I LOVE IT!! <br />
<br />
<br />
Next we have the Christmas Ornaments. I made 5 this year... and the first pics are of the ones I made & took to exchange (not too much red is there?):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYehEyaIW9pIXQm2V5wWddaUdMFAeY_Vrn1wL3f8EgvoYrhw2zLdVZiyf6RMqdaYfUwdE_fDr8lmAkQrISoF6K9lEup1VAWI1PikU8p8neLYEsXIJsmRO49u_xgt3IXTzJDZsbWxD4ACs/s1600/orns2011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYehEyaIW9pIXQm2V5wWddaUdMFAeY_Vrn1wL3f8EgvoYrhw2zLdVZiyf6RMqdaYfUwdE_fDr8lmAkQrISoF6K9lEup1VAWI1PikU8p8neLYEsXIJsmRO49u_xgt3IXTzJDZsbWxD4ACs/s320/orns2011.jpg" width="288" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And these are the ones I bought home (from Toni, <a href="http://fiona-stitchingandstuff.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Fiona</a>, Judy (again!), Linda and Myra. Aren't they all wonderful?! Thanks to all of these wonderful ladies & dear friends!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIWjWKDOOyymOU5_xtCidD1mRnE3GqQT-ZZRQjbOMRY6y5UqYYTLz5ZpPaZYLv_9AuKmFCBczAMvUgCxOtmTByFTtLA03syVreNGNwDSm7bI0c9oB5R4OCZGE85Dudf9mgtUdmpJKqois/s1600/orns.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIWjWKDOOyymOU5_xtCidD1mRnE3GqQT-ZZRQjbOMRY6y5UqYYTLz5ZpPaZYLv_9AuKmFCBczAMvUgCxOtmTByFTtLA03syVreNGNwDSm7bI0c9oB5R4OCZGE85Dudf9mgtUdmpJKqois/s320/orns.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Then we have the "Stitched Exchange" - I made a pincushion. I stitched a Jardin Prive' design over 1 on 25 ct, put it in a round wood box and I also make the marking pins that are in it. Several ladies told me they really liked it - hope the recipient did as well!<br />

</div>I received this lovely pin pillow made by Sheryl from IN, who I just met this year. Isn't it pretty? I'm 99.9% sure it's a Beehive Needlework's designs. Thank you again Sheryl!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1s8dtJI8ZAt9qx83p5Hq603cEYz7FDyd3WS6hE_TmiTQUQI5_WA7_WfO_xPv3caP-ingvtmtJ3VnT1jWKRN5IcliO0gE60QM11vbJGB2KtIRgNYU2fMrziTT4MF7nHYpWa_SvV4zxt-o/s1600/IMG_1545.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1s8dtJI8ZAt9qx83p5Hq603cEYz7FDyd3WS6hE_TmiTQUQI5_WA7_WfO_xPv3caP-ingvtmtJ3VnT1jWKRN5IcliO0gE60QM11vbJGB2KtIRgNYU2fMrziTT4MF7nHYpWa_SvV4zxt-o/s320/IMG_1545.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Next are the two items from the "Sewing Exchange" that was done sort of last minute. I had two items, but I don't have pictures of them. One was a Huswife and the other was a pincushion. I came home with these two cuties - a frog pincushion by Fiona and a Needlebook by Becky (whom I also met for the first time this year!). Both are great aren't they? Look at all those little tiny strips on this Needlebook - Becky, if you're reading this, it's wonderful, thank you again! :-)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitbp89JxFtZsKfesHgPpsRdaDi3H6t1yXyBWo7_igZJSYTeuodQgmAVt1Qk5fn0pbpvrNHE1ORpKgOA-6IqKCau26HJK_i9Jo29ZyMAzD1y3mZk_cmO6We3qu1gn3rfDYUaX7cw5Vgnl0/s1600/IMG_1541.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitbp89JxFtZsKfesHgPpsRdaDi3H6t1yXyBWo7_igZJSYTeuodQgmAVt1Qk5fn0pbpvrNHE1ORpKgOA-6IqKCau26HJK_i9Jo29ZyMAzD1y3mZk_cmO6We3qu1gn3rfDYUaX7cw5Vgnl0/s320/IMG_1541.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center">I think I'll name my frog "Fi" after Fiona.... she's a Scottish frog and you just don't see many of those in SC! Just look at that face.... ;-)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA8fI0PjyW4rYXxJL9olU_kL6WqwJVvCMADRlvF3nLBNh5raBc8fC3pBQxasZEeebOCAlhrfSRg25_rXz-o2ao5t6_tF0-aMp1XMKyf7wEV7ts22D-vOKVzZWPWzhkwOmJ08nal0Sw0D0/s1600/IMG_1542.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA8fI0PjyW4rYXxJL9olU_kL6WqwJVvCMADRlvF3nLBNh5raBc8fC3pBQxasZEeebOCAlhrfSRg25_rXz-o2ao5t6_tF0-aMp1XMKyf7wEV7ts22D-vOKVzZWPWzhkwOmJ08nal0Sw0D0/s320/IMG_1542.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I did one Halloween item for the Thursday night exchange - and I cannot remember what I made... sad huh? This is what I came home with - and it's SO TRUE!! This was made by my dear friend Myra!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">(sorry about the glare on the glass).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxa26q72BuiAjWRBJ3eXx_5zrJsJdXzOBQaw-GzpwbyfiW3S8UhYNwSaCR1-NaO2xPXvze5S0AovWMTVOXRv47DKyqxiqJVxGvSN65slogcrO9t61AQeCsxcNO9qCNXMKj_pbTS50tTgw/s1600/IMG_1539.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxa26q72BuiAjWRBJ3eXx_5zrJsJdXzOBQaw-GzpwbyfiW3S8UhYNwSaCR1-NaO2xPXvze5S0AovWMTVOXRv47DKyqxiqJVxGvSN65slogcrO9t61AQeCsxcNO9qCNXMKj_pbTS50tTgw/s320/IMG_1539.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
And last but not least, a couple more handmade gifts - this journal cover was made by my friend Toni from IL. And if someone else reading says "hey - that looks familiar" - it's because Toni made several I think... I was just very lucky that she gave me one too! CUTE isn't it? :-)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9CRowkrChBBJhBeoiXJoFpA9sphyphenhypheny4O0xFffeSM7UyIl1GGjZGxufL9KB8LEl9-Vo2mAXlKC62RCLGfhV_K6MdTguzGZMV3NgghtjVJzHxNQ36PYI3IutG3sxYkOvPazW-pqDNmKqlzc/s1600/IMG_1558.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9CRowkrChBBJhBeoiXJoFpA9sphyphenhypheny4O0xFffeSM7UyIl1GGjZGxufL9KB8LEl9-Vo2mAXlKC62RCLGfhV_K6MdTguzGZMV3NgghtjVJzHxNQ36PYI3IutG3sxYkOvPazW-pqDNmKqlzc/s320/IMG_1558.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And last but not least (for today) is a lovely bag in gorgeous Paisley fabric that <a href="http://fiona-stitchingandstuff.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Fiona</a> made for me. Fiona has been coming from Scotland for many years now & it's great to see her every October. We've become great friends & I so enjoy spending the week with her. Thank you again Fiona, I love it! I just have to keep my sister from trying to take it everytime she comes over... ;-)</div><br />

First is my finish of <a href="http://istitchaholic.blogspot.com/">Carol's Mystery SAL</a> - love it Carol - thank you again! I have to get the box ready to mount it on... will do that this week sometime! If you want to purchase the chart, <a href="http://istitchcharts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">you can find it here......</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheWXoG4octTuXL35VizczkA6bWCHMJaYDfC_6PgHap5jBRTiTpeW01zwWYYiW5QC_Bh8ID17ttlwMuaUwHUE-wWYNdVLdNNYgHU5mpq_-LqH7FAbDShM-ywAgGRKc40dtwa2as81Bsqko/s1600/istitchmsafinish.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" nda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheWXoG4octTuXL35VizczkA6bWCHMJaYDfC_6PgHap5jBRTiTpeW01zwWYYiW5QC_Bh8ID17ttlwMuaUwHUE-wWYNdVLdNNYgHU5mpq_-LqH7FAbDShM-ywAgGRKc40dtwa2as81Bsqko/s1600/istitchmsafinish.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Next up is an ornament all ready to finish. This is by Sue Hillis from one of her new leaflets. I love anything with peppermints for Christmas. I used fewer colors than was called for & back stitched in the red or green instead of gray - I think it's cute.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinhEijl7E9Y6nwSSOwByWNpzjvtuG3ghEW4TymtKcuaEC74ZjXf4B1f65uXprBXAoU3jh-xNEJtL2rFiKMKNBpi4pT1OYQT1QNgTKjWJVZ9kfWPCbMk6HCpvOwo-C1fQBzlwULUmG66Ao/s1600/shcandytree.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" nda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinhEijl7E9Y6nwSSOwByWNpzjvtuG3ghEW4TymtKcuaEC74ZjXf4B1f65uXprBXAoU3jh-xNEJtL2rFiKMKNBpi4pT1OYQT1QNgTKjWJVZ9kfWPCbMk6HCpvOwo-C1fQBzlwULUmG66Ao/s320/shcandytree.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>This weekend I stitched this design by Country Stitches (A Stitcher's Purse pattern) - and indeed - "My soul is fed with needle and thread" - perfect right? <br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And now for a SUPER simple project...... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhll66M8v1HxQVeFne2Wk5DSZ-JSoQ3ewQM4x34iB5ENnbYIwf2b-3ZOye2yidaMxRlUenrYnqsaYqhox6_umrm8t-RIscroKLUqiH30mr-cBqUyGWs5z56gGURlZCKg-h2wiPFt2Qy7PI/s1600/halloweenort.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ida="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhll66M8v1HxQVeFne2Wk5DSZ-JSoQ3ewQM4x34iB5ENnbYIwf2b-3ZOye2yidaMxRlUenrYnqsaYqhox6_umrm8t-RIscroKLUqiH30mr-cBqUyGWs5z56gGURlZCKg-h2wiPFt2Qy7PI/s320/halloweenort.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">This little "ort bucket" is just the cutest idea, and if you want one but don't want to stitch something over one to put in the pail, just use any fabric you like. All I did was measure the pail, cut the strip just over twice the diameter of the pail. Iron heat & bond to 1/2 the strip, then iron the other half to it so it's double sided. Put it inside the pail and trim if needed. For the top, I traced the lid on a piece of very stiff paper (not cardboard, but paper like you find in a picture frame), and cut out the circle. Cut a fabric circle a bit larger and sew a running stitch around the edges (like you're making a fabric yo-yo), slip it over the stiff paper and tie off. I put a magnet on the back so it can be removed, and there you go. A cute and super simple "ort bucket", and best of all, you can easily change the fabric for each season or holiday. The pails are available at most craft stores like Michael's, AC Moore, etc. I used the smallest one above because it's just CUTE, but you can use any size. You could also use pretty scrapbooking paper if you prefer, but I just have a "hoard" of fabric & don't have the paper. :-) You can also use this as a gift container.... especially for a stitcher so they can use the container as their ort bucket! </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Thanks for stopping by - and more pics coming soon.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!</div>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10173378106835349003noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4730266119695823900.post-35240940638741220052011-10-30T12:55:00.001-04:002011-10-30T13:01:56.415-04:00What a blur October has been..... and Halloween Finishes!!I have been so busy the entire month of October, but especially the past two weeks, that I hardly know which end is up. It was LOTS of fun though......<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">We've been to a couple of shows, Franc D'Ambrosio and Pam Tillis. Yes, VERY different but both VERY good! We were also hosting the 14th Annual Cross Stitch Pals "Stitching at the Beach", which was great fun. I only have a few pics from the retreat, but I do have pics of the things I stitched/made to exchange and the things I brought home in return. I will share those with you in a later post.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">First I want to share with you a few I've made for Halloween since Halloween is tomorrow. These have been finished for several weeks, but I haven't had time to post anything to my blog.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Remember the post several weeks ago where you only saw bits of Halloween Fabrics? Well, this is what they were, halloween project bags. I used my GO! Baby and the new Halloween die for the cat & bat - they're pretty cute huh? (if I do say so myself, right?) ;-)</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgReVRN3c0UV1GBVWnWOjN5EVetVZ5QDXk5P5c-YSkeq90SXmg6Qo98jjIPpuLKy3rp774jyNydObfSB9DRz61CnSjlUynvjPKWux1GRq7xkXsaqw_fmgQUrMmWWTLYqo44_H3RQdkMA4U/s1600/IMG_1370.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ida="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgReVRN3c0UV1GBVWnWOjN5EVetVZ5QDXk5P5c-YSkeq90SXmg6Qo98jjIPpuLKy3rp774jyNydObfSB9DRz61CnSjlUynvjPKWux1GRq7xkXsaqw_fmgQUrMmWWTLYqo44_H3RQdkMA4U/s320/IMG_1370.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">Using the same die, and my addiction to tote bags, I made this cute bag (again, if I do say so myself) and it's SUPPOSED to be a freebie download-able pattern on the AccuQuilt website, but despite me submitting all the info they asked for, they still haven't uploaded it. If you want the pattern via email, just let me know - <a href="mailto:amycspals@yahoo.com">amycspals@yahoo.com</a> </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">I know, it's a bit late this year, but you can always use it next year. Love AccuQuilt's products, but don't know if I have anything positive to say about "trying" to work with them on anything else!</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And I think I saved the best for last.... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I think I posted a pic awhile back of my "Goblins on Parade" when it was a WIP.... now it's finished!! That's a penny in the upper right corner to give you an idea of the finished size. It's 28 ct over one and it took awhile, but it's so cute I think. It's stitched with black DMC on a piece of hand-dyed fabric from Crescent Colours that has been in my stash for a very long time.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
