Geez what a week..... a vent!

This week has been crazy, esp. the last couple of days. On Wednesday, we had no email until late in the day, or at least not much. It worked a bit off & on, mostly off. Yesterday afternoon we ran out to do errands & to pick up some lunch. Ray has a childhood friend from out of state down & we thought we'd show him around "town" while we were out as well. When we got home, the internet was down. Not too long after that, our A/C quit working. I was really upset about that as it was HOT (mid-90's) so I called them immediately. I wasn't really thinking too much about the internet at the time with the a/c out. Repairman came & then my friend Renee came over for awhile. I didn't know the repair had left & then learned he said he had to have parts that he couldn't get until today as it was already 5:30. I was TICKED OFF! About an hour later, the a/c just magically came on. No idea why.... just started running & cooled the house off, thank the good Lord! Renee stayed until around 7 & after she left and we had some dinner, it was 8:30, so we start trying to get the net up & it still isn't working. I called tech support & they finally decided it must be our modem, so they'd put us on the list for someone to come out today to check it. Well, the a/c worked fine all night & the 2 repairmen came around 9 this a.m. They did something to it & REALLY messed it up. They told us someone else was coming from Sumter to work on it. Now keep in mind we've only been in this new house for 3.5 months & they've been here like 5 times to work on this system. $)*%_#$*(_#*$#^^ So the guy finally gets here from Sumter & it's HOT! Ray, Richard & I were just sitting around talking & watching the 3 repairmen go in & out, in & out, in & out until I was ready to scream. It was HOT, no internet so I couldn't work, poor Richard drove over 7 hours for a visit to sit in a steaming hot house..... doesn't that sound like fun? Well, it doesn't get too much better...... at around 3 a tech from the phone co arrived & said it was a very strange thing that was going on..... It wasn't our modem but a card (long story) and they'd have to switch it out somewhere. There were 10 people scattered all over who's dsl connection was down... all at the same time, yet all on different "cards". SO they get all 9 of the others up & ours still didn't work. Guess what, we now have a new modem!!!! They did have it fixed by dark at least! That's more than I can say about the a/c......
The repairman had to go back to Sumter (over 30 miles) to get parts so he could "straight wire" it for the weekend so we could at least have a/c. It wouldn't turn off, but it would at least work. Well... guess what? It didn't work. :-( He worked on our system from around noon until almost 8 p.m. other than his quick trip to Sumter for parts, and we still have no a/c. He HOPES they can get a new motherboard for it on Monday (from Columbia which is 80 miles away) and get it installed. There are a total of THREE technicians who are qualified to work on our system (a fancy new thing that I regret buying now, trust me) and of the 5 service calls, he is the ONLY one of the three who has been sent out here. To say I'm furious is not nearly how I feel. It's still HOT in this house but at least a cold front is coming through tonight & it's only supposed to be in the mid-80's over the weekend. UGH!
And to give you an idea of just how things are going.... Richard's wife called last night to let him know that when she got home from work, their a/c wasn't working..... (and can't be fixed until Monday!) . Odd ya think?

Hope you have a great weekend!

My USEBB Tin Topper to Becky K

Becky K received her package but I just haven't had time to blog this week. I saw this tin & thought it was so cute and then had a hard time finding something to put on it. I ended up using a motif from a Quaker design & then stitching the heart again for a fob, with a "B" for Becky on the other side. After learning it was Becky K's very first exchange, I wish I had done something more elablorate, but Becky assures me she likes it! I hope to receive your name again in a future exchange Becky!!!

Thanks for looking & happy stitching everyone!

My Fair & Square from Michele WA.....

Isn't this lovely!?! Michele knows I love red and flowers & she stitched this lovely design for me. It's from a French Design called "Mon Jardin" from Les Miniatures D' Alphabets and the only place I know of to get them in the US is from Hearts Content (Maureen Appleton) ~ just had to enbale you know. ;-) Michele & I both oooohh'd & aaaahhhh'd over them awhile back & she not only stitched this, she sent me the pattern AND another Christmas design by them as well. And the scissors & mesh bag are much appreciated, those Putford scissors are the cutest things ever! And how did you know that Pumpkin pin was perfect for me? As I said, that's how I've been feeling lately.... maybe he knows the holidays are coming too, ya think? ;-) THANK YOU again Michele, I love everything!!!!

SBEBB Seasonal House for Chris

I realized this a.m. that somehow I missed posting one of the exchanges I sent this summer. It's the SBEBB Seasonal House that was sent to Chris. Her choice of "seasons" was Winter & I chose a design by Erica Michael. I love how it turned out. It's stitched on 36 ct Summer Khaki Edinboro (my fav linen!) and finished as a pinkeep. Thanks for looking!

Seasonal Exchange for Nancy.....

I'm in Becky's Seasonal Exchange group & the person I'll be sending to each season over the next year is Nancy. She received her first package a few days ago. I stitched one of the Quaker houses by Carriage House Samplings & made it into a needlebook. Becky told me that 2 of Nancy's fav things are Quakers & houses & I thought this house was sort of "summer-like" - blue for water & sky & gold for the sun. Okay, so I wanted it to be summer like, but hopefully Nancy likes it & that's what counts, right? ;-) Thanks for looking & happy stitching!

USEBB Redwork for Dawn.....

Dawn posted that she received the redwork exchange so I can post it. The heart is a design by Plum Pudding Needleart. I LOVE redwork & hearts so I hope Dawn likes it as much as I do! I will stitch this one again for myself one of these days! :-)

Happy stitching!

Totally Speechless..... (and that's RARE!)

I received a package in the mail today from a friend & was very surprised, had no idea what it would be as I wasn't expecting anything. I didn't get a chance to open it when it first arrived (had to leave for a bit) & when I finally did get home & got the package opened this afternoon, I was so surprised, to say the least! Look at this LOVELY, LOVELY Stitcher's Pyrmaid that Rosalie made for me? Isn't it absolutely GORGEOUS!?!?!!! She sent it a "little" (can you say understatement!) thank you gift for some "help" I gave her. I'm still truly stunned as I didn't know I was doing anything that would make me deserving of such a wonderful gift! Thank you so much Rosalie, it's lovely & I will treasure it!! Hugs & can't wait to meet you in person in October!!

Happy stithcing everyone & have a great weekend!!

WHY OH WHY wasn't I born rich (or beautiful for that matter?)! lol I'd love to have this, but I don't think it's in the cards for me this time. :-( I love the finishing technique, isn't it really cute?! Hope to see lots of pics out there from those of you who do get it!

Happy stitching,
Amy

**Edited to add - Becky, I know we talked earlier, but I have to say again that you are so very, very generous! I never in a million years was expecting anything like this when I posted... I was just wanting to enable my blogging friends with this super new piece from Just Nan! Thank you so much... I just don't know what else to say! Lots & lots of hugs!!

Also, Carol, THANK YOU for such kind words! ;-) You are a sweetheart!
