Geez what a week..... a vent!

This week has been crazy, esp. the last couple of days. On Wednesday, we had no email until late in the day, or at least not much. It worked a bit off & on, mostly off. Yesterday afternoon we ran out to do errands & to pick up some lunch. Ray has a childhood friend from out of state down & we thought we'd show him around "town" while we were out as well. When we got home, the internet was down. Not too long after that, our A/C quit working. I was really upset about that as it was HOT (mid-90's) so I called them immediately. I wasn't really thinking too much about the internet at the time with the a/c out. Repairman came & then my friend Renee came over for awhile. I didn't know the repair had left & then learned he said he had to have parts that he couldn't get until today as it was already 5:30. I was TICKED OFF! About an hour later, the a/c just magically came on. No idea why.... just started running & cooled the house off, thank the good Lord! Renee stayed until around 7 & after she left and we had some dinner, it was 8:30, so we start trying to get the net up & it still isn't working. I called tech support & they finally decided it must be our modem, so they'd put us on the list for someone to come out today to check it. Well, the a/c worked fine all night & the 2 repairmen came around 9 this a.m. They did something to it & REALLY messed it up. They told us someone else was coming from Sumter to work on it. Now keep in mind we've only been in this new house for 3.5 months & they've been here like 5 times to work on this system. $)*%_#$*(_#*$#^^ So the guy finally gets here from Sumter & it's HOT! Ray, Richard & I were just sitting around talking & watching the 3 repairmen go in & out, in & out, in & out until I was ready to scream. It was HOT, no internet so I couldn't work, poor Richard drove over 7 hours for a visit to sit in a steaming hot house..... doesn't that sound like fun? Well, it doesn't get too much better...... at around 3 a tech from the phone co arrived & said it was a very strange thing that was going on..... It wasn't our modem but a card (long story) and they'd have to switch it out somewhere. There were 10 people scattered all over who's dsl connection was down... all at the same time, yet all on different "cards". SO they get all 9 of the others up & ours still didn't work. Guess what, we now have a new modem!!!! They did have it fixed by dark at least! That's more than I can say about the a/c......
The repairman had to go back to Sumter (over 30 miles) to get parts so he could "straight wire" it for the weekend so we could at least have a/c. It wouldn't turn off, but it would at least work. Well... guess what? It didn't work. :-( He worked on our system from around noon until almost 8 p.m. other than his quick trip to Sumter for parts, and we still have no a/c. He HOPES they can get a new motherboard for it on Monday (from Columbia which is 80 miles away) and get it installed. There are a total of THREE technicians who are qualified to work on our system (a fancy new thing that I regret buying now, trust me) and of the 5 service calls, he is the ONLY one of the three who has been sent out here. To say I'm furious is not nearly how I feel. It's still HOT in this house but at least a cold front is coming through tonight & it's only supposed to be in the mid-80's over the weekend. UGH!
And to give you an idea of just how things are going.... Richard's wife called last night to let him know that when she got home from work, their a/c wasn't working..... (and can't be fixed until Monday!) . Odd ya think?

Hope you have a great weekend!

Wow, Amy! What a drag! I live in Phoenix Az and we had several problems with our a/c too this year. Luckily for me, we have portable window a/c's. The days our a/c didn't work, I stayed in my little room with the window a/c all day which helped but it was still hot. Fortunately my husband who really doesn't know anything about a/c's knew how to take the motor off and have it replaced ($130.00), well, what do you know, 3 weeks later it broke again (not because of Ray's work), some wires got caught in the blades so he took it back to see if there was a warranty, it didn't cover it and we had to buy another motor and fan blades, it is still working now, and what a relief that we didn't have to buy a new a/c! Anyway, I know this was a long story from a total stranger but it seemed we had a few things in common. I am in a few of the same groups (quaker, smalls, etc.). I've been married for 17 years, and hey, my mom lives in Summerville, SC. Would love to have you stop by my blog sometime and say hey.

Well at least Richard knows he would be without AC one way or the other ;-). It's so annoying isn't it. Hope you get everything up and running smoothly quickly.

Oh my....that sounds terrible and HOT too! That's they way with new homes...you got to live there for a year to get all the kinks worked out, we went through a similar scenario last winter, except it wasn't the A/C it was the furnace and it was so cold and the darn thing kept "timing out" after 4 service calls they finally figured out what was wrong.... but it got mighty chilly in our house the 4 days we had it "time out". YIKES!
Hope everything starts going better :)

Some days make you long for the time when repairmen lived in the same town you did. Tech Support is so frustrating. I sympathize with you wholeheartedly. Hope you get to stitch so you can forget your weekend!
